About Me

I am a full stack software engineer with over 10 years of experience in the social sector. I specialize in building software for global digital health, humanitarian health, and sexual health.

My mission is to elevate the quality of software in the social sector.

With over a decade of experience at the intersection of software engineering and social impact, I have built software for over 30 nonprofits and government institutions in over 15 countries across 5 continents. I am passionate about partnering with the social sector to build the tools they need to carry out their missions more effectively. Having worked in “Big Tech,” I have seen firsthand how the tech industry directs the world’s most talented engineers to pursue short-term rewards delivering products that can cause harm. It is my life mission to dedicate myself to building software for a more just world.

I have built early warning systems, data analysis products, and emergency response tools for disease epidemics and natural disasters. I have partnered with organizations in public health, humanitarian health, disaster relief, food security, homelessness, and anti-human trafficking. I am excited to hear about what your organization is working on and how I can support you.

My Skills

With a background in both computer science and public health, I am able to design, implement, and deploy solutions at the intersection of tech and the social sector. I work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and bridge the gap between software teams and institutions for social change.

Experience

2022-Present

Two Sigma, Data Clinic

Lead Full Stack Engineer

I led Data Clinic’s Public Good Products strategy and software development. Data Clinic is Two Sigma’s tech-for-good arm, providing pro bono data science and engineering support to mission-driven organizations. I designed, implemented, and launched free and open source products to solve common data challenges for the social sector, such as data collection, data discovery, and data processing.

2017-2021

Zenysis Technologies

Director of Engineering

I led a globally distributed team of 13 software engineers. We built software for humanitarian health and international development, including health analytics platforms, case management and epidemic response tools, and automated data pipelines. We partnered with ministries of health and NGOs across South America, Africa, and Asia, to support populations of hundreds of millions people. I started as a Senior Software Engineer, was then promoted to Frontend Engineering Lead, and ultimately Director of Engineering.

2013-2017

Palantir Technologies, Philanthropy Team

Forward Deployed Software Engineer

I was the first engineer hired to the Philanthropy Team. I built software for 17 different nonprofits, including analysis and coordination tools for humanitarian emergency response, early warning systems for agriculture and food security, and case management systems for housing coordination for homeless populations.
